Police authorities in Ghana have interdicted seven police personnel over allegations of extortion, according to a statement on Wednesday.
The statement, signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Richmond Mensah, Staff Officer in charge of public affairs, said the personnel were members of a patrol team who were alleged to have demanded money from their victim.
The personnel, according to the statement, compelled the victim to withdraw an amount of money from an automated teller machine (ATM) for them.
The affected personnel are Inspector Courage Boateng, General Sergeant Stephen Addo, General Corporal Moses Anyravi, General Corporal Prosper Adiabo, General Lance Corporal Samuel Anolcye, General Constable Henrietta Coleman and General Constable Bernard Amoako.
The statement further explained that the interdiction is intended to facilitate the ongoing investigation by the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB). Enditem
