West African country Ghana has vowed to pursue justice for their nationals shot and killed in the Bronx, USA, according to a statement late Wednesday.

The statement, issued by Ghana’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations on behalf of the country’s Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, expressed shock and sadness about the tragic news of the 24-year-old Joseph Owusu as well as another Ghanaian within a week.

“I have been shocked and saddened by the tragic news, especially coming on the heels of the horrible news of the killing of 15-year-old Javits, also in the Bronx, New York,” the minister said.

He assured the bereaved family that the government of Ghana stands firmly with them and will work with relevant authorities and agencies of the United States government to ensure that justice is served.

The statement added that the police in the Bronx have indicated to the family that an autopsy is being conducted on the body of the late Joseph Owusu as investigations continue into the crime. Enditem
