Cote d’Ivoire marks 65th anniversary of independence with parade

Cote d’Ivoire celebrated the 65th anniversary of its independence on Thursday with a grand military parade in the central city of Bouake.

The parade along Reine Pokou Boulevard featured 4,900 personnel from national defense and security forces, alongside military detachments from France, the United States, and Morocco.

President Alassane Ouattara commenced the ceremony by reviewing the troops before joining dignitaries, including Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, in the official stand.

The procession included military, paramilitary, and special forces; representatives from army schools and training centers; and military vehicles and equipment. Reconnaissance helicopters provided aerial coverage overhead.

The ceremony concluded with a vibrant performance by the National Ballet of Cote d’Ivoire. Their carnivalesque fresco portrayed a nation “proud of its roots, faithful to its origins, and resolutely oriented toward a future of peace, prosperity, and grandeur.”  Enditem
