Arsenal fans in Kenya celebrate after winning premier league, ending 22-year title drought

Hundreds of Arsenal fans rallied in Kisumu on Sunday as they celebrated the team’s 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace FC, ending a 22-year English Premier League title drought.

Footage shows fans marching, riding bikes, and driving cars as they head towards the Arsenal club. Fans can also be seen dancing inside the club ahead of the game.

“It took us six years trusting the process, and we believed that finally this was our day, and here we are, we are the Champions, twenty-two years, the last time we won,” a fan said. “Haters make you strong, and haters only show how much they admire what you are doing, so we love the haters, we encourage them to hate us more,” he continued.

Another fan expressed that he felt ‘humbled’ after the team’s win, saying he has been ‘patient to wait for this moment’.

Arsenal’s Premier League title win triggered massive street celebrations in other big cities like Nairobi, where ‘Gooners’ choked the streets of the Central Business District (CBD).

Celebrations came after Gabriel Jesus and Noni Madueke scored in the 41st and 47th minutes, sealing the title and victory for the Gunners. Arsenal’s title-winning season under coach Mikel Arteta comes after finishing top of the table with 85 points ahead of Manchester City. Enditem
