Asante Kotoko appoints Eric Tinkler as new head coach

Asante Kotoko have officially appointed experienced South African tactician Eric Tinkler as their new head coach with immediate effect ahead of the 2026/27 season. The appointment ends the club’s search for a permanent manager and signals its ambition to compete strongly in both domestic and continental competitions.

Tinkler, a former captain of South Africa’s national team, brings a wealth of experience from coaching top clubs including Orlando Pirates, Cape Town City, SuperSport United and Sekhukhune United. During his coaching career, he has won several major trophies, including the Nedbank Cup with Orlando Pirates, the Telkom Knockout with Cape Town City and the MTN 8 with SuperSport United.

Announcing the appointment, Kotoko Board Chairman James Osei Brown described Tinkler as the right man to lead the Porcupine Warriors, citing his experience, discipline, player development record and winning pedigree.

Speaking after his unveiling, Tinkler said he was proud to join one of Africa’s biggest clubs and expressed his determination to restore Kotoko to sustained success in the Ghana Premier League and on the continental stage. Enditem
