Ghana’s U-20 women’s football national team, the Black Princesses, came from behind to beat Uganda 2-1 in the first leg of the final round of qualifiers for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The visitors silenced the home team by scoring in the first half through Agnes Nabukenya in the 32nd minute.

Despite reorganizing themselves after the goal, the Black Princesses were unable to find an equalizer before the first half ended.

Ghana came back a little stronger in the second half and got the equalizer through substitute Priscilla Mensah in the 58th after connecting a pass with a header.

Latifah Abesik scored the second and last goal of the day when she finished off a brilliant move after she received a pass from the flanks.

Ghana now holds a first-leg advantage going into the return match in Uganda next week.

The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2026 is scheduled for Poland from Sept. 5 to 27 this year. Enditem
