The Black Queens of Ghana beat their Mauritius counterparts 7-0 in the second leg of the second-round qualifiers for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games at the Essipong Sports Stadium, near Takoradi, on Tuesday.
Ghana started the game aggressively, and their dominance was rewarded when Evelyn Badu scored the opening goal with a header from a cross in the 9th minute.
Portia Boakye scored the second goal with a powerful strike from outside the penalty box, beating the Mauritian goalkeeper. Zakaria Ajegipina added the third to end the first half 3-0 in favor of the home team.
Back from recess, the away team came up stronger to defend their lines; however, the home team kept their dominance, paving way for Benedicte Simon to score the fourth goal for the Ghanaians in the 73rd minute.
The Black Queens were awarded a penalty after Ajegipina was fouled by the Mauritius goalkeeper in the 85th minute, and Jennifer Cudjoe expertly scored to make it 5-0 for the home team. Nancy Amoh scored the sixth goal for Ghana in the 88th minute, with Mukarama scoring the seventh and final goal for Ghana.
Ghana defeated Mauritius 3-0 in the first leg last week, thus winning 10-0 on aggregate to advance to the next round. Ghana will now play the winner of the Uganda vs. Zambia tie in the next round of the Olympic Games qualifier in February 2027. Enditem
