Head coach of Ghana’s national team Carlos Queiroz on Tuesday announced a 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The squad, which contains few surprises, consists of three goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders, and seven forwards, including almost all of the team’s key players as well as several young talents called up recently.
Conspicuously missing are two key players, including Ghana’s superstar Mohammed Kudus and Alexander Djiku, who are out due to injuries.
Making its fifth appearance in this year’s Mundial, Ghana has been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.
The Black Stars of Ghana will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17 before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
In its four appearances at the World Cup (2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022), the Ghanaian side qualified for the quarterfinals in 2010 but failed to advance beyond the group stage in their last two tournaments in Brazil and Qatar.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the first edition featuring 48 teams, including a record 10 African representatives.
