The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) will a counter-insurgency field training exercise in the areas of the Bono and Upper East Regions from May 10 to 20, according to a statement on Saturday.
The statement, signed by Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations for the GAF, said the exercise is aimed at putting personnel in shape to respond to contemporary security issues.
“The Ghana Army, in collaboration with the Ghana Navy and the Ghana Airforce, will conduct an exercise in the general areas of Bono and Upper East Region from Sunday 10 to Wednesday, 20th May, 2026.
The exercise codenamed ‘Exercise Storm Shield 2026,’ is an internal security/counter-insurgency field training exercise aimed at enhancing the operational readiness and rapid-response capability of troops to address contemporary security threats,” read the statement.
The statement urged residents in the two regions not to panic if they observe increased military activities during the period.
The GAF assured the public of its commitment to safeguarding the territorial integrity, peace and security of the country. Enditem
