Ghana FA vows to build stronger Black Stars for AFCON, other competitions

Ghana will build a stronger team to get to challenge for continental glory and on the world stage, Football Association (FA) president Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku said over the weekend.

In a statement after the country’s senior male football national team, the Black Stars, exited at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup, he emphasized that the technical team and the players have learned invaluable lessons from the tournament necessary for competing for future laurels.

Simeon-Okraku, also the 2nd vice president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), stressed that the future of Ghanaian football remains bright and urged the people to forge ahead with renewed determination and oneness of purpose to build a stronger team for the future.

“The future of Ghana football remains bright. The football association is committed to building a stronger, deeper, and balanced team that will return to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), challenge for continental glory, and reach even greater heights,” he said.

The GFA president expressed his appreciation to the millions of supporters of the Black Stars across the world for their faith in the team, stressing that their belief in the team was a source of strength for the players.

The four-time African champions, one of 10 representing the continent at the World Cup, exited at the round of 32 on Saturday after finishing third and qualifying from Group L, comprising England, Croatia, and Panama. Enditem
