The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) said on Monday it has taken steps with relevant authorities to ensure that public sector teachers promoted during the 2025 promotion exercise were put on their appropriate salary levels.
According to a statement signed by Isaac Baah, Head of Compensation and Benefits for the GNAT, the association observed that it is concerned about the delay in the promotion placement of deserving teachers as it affects career progression and related benefits.
He assured the association, will in the coming days issue a letter stating the roadmap geared towards resolving the matter.
“The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) wishes to assure all teachers that it is concerned about the continued delay in the promotion placement of deserving teachers who have successfully gone through the 2025 promotion process. We wish to inform all members that the General Secretary’s outfit has taken the matter up with the relevant authorities more than a week ago and GNAT is engaging them to ensure that the necessary steps are taken to resolve the issue,” read the statement.
Public sector teachers who wrote promotion examination late December 2025 and became successful after the results were released in May this year are yet to be placed on their new salary levels.
The development has generated so much anxiety among successful teachers who have urged their union leaders to pursue the matter to its logical conclusion. Enditem
