At least five persons are feared dead while several others have sustained injuries following an accident at the Ofankor barrier in the wee hours of Thursday, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed.
According to ADO1 Alex King Nartey, public relations officer of the GNFS, the accident involved a tipper truck, a sprinter minibus, and a tricycle.
The crash, he emphasized, has left the Sprinter bus badly mangled, trapping several passengers inside and triggering a major rescue operation at the scene.
“Five people have so far been confirmed dead, with several others sustaining serious injuries,” Nartey confirmed to the media.
Emergency responders have been deployed to the scene of the accident to undertake rescue efforts to evacuate injured victims for medical attention.
