Public transport fares across Ghana have increased by 8 percent effective today, Saturday, September 26, 2026, following an agreement between the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC) and the Ministry of Transport.
The adjustment affects trotros, shared taxis, inter-city services and haulage. The unions said the review takes into account changes in fuel prices, spare parts, vehicle maintenance and other operating costs.
Some examples of the revised fares include:
- GH¢5 → GH¢5.50
- GH¢10 → GH¢11
- GH¢30 → GH¢32.40
- GH¢34 → GH¢36.80
- GH¢25 inter-city fare → GH¢27
- GH¢100 inter-city fare → GH¢108
- GH¢300 inter-city fare → GH¢324
Transport operators have been directed to display the approved fare schedule at terminals and stations, while charging above the approved rates could attract sanctions. Enditem
