Nine people were killed after a passenger bus and a truck collided on a busy expressway in Nigeria’s southwestern Ogun State, a road safety official said Tuesday.
In a statement, Afolabi Odunsi, spokesman for the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun State, said the speeding bus lost control on a slippery road and collided head-on with the truck on Monday evening.
Citing a preliminary investigation, Odunsi attributed the crash, which occurred in rainy conditions, to “overspeeding.”
