The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Saturday commenced the election of constituency executive officers across Ghana as part of its nationwide internal reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The polls follow the successful completion of polling station and electoral area elections and are a key stage in the party’s roadmap to renew its grassroots leadership.
Delegates in over 270 constituencies apart from few places are voting to elect executives to steer the party in the next four years.
Among the positions being contested for include Constituency Chairman, First, Second and Third Vice Chairpersons, Secretary and Assistant Secretary.
The rest are Organiser, Women’s Organiser, Youth Organiser, Treasurer and Communications Officer as well as other constitutionally recognised constituency positions
The elections are being supervised by constituency election committees in line with the party’s electoral guidelines, with the Electoral Commission providing technical support where required. In some constituencies, contests have been highly competitive, reflecting renewed efforts by party members to rebuild the NPP after its 2024 electoral defeat.
The constituency elections will be followed by regional executive elections before the party holds its National Delegates Conference in Kumasi on 19 September 2026, where delegates will elect new national officers and consider proposed constitutional amendments. Enditem
