NPP to organize ‘Wontumi walks’ – John Boadu

By Francis Kobena Tandoh

National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) John Boadu said on Monday the party will be organizing monthly walks for incarcerated former Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

According to him, the party will re-channel the energies of some of its officers, including the 1st Vice Chairman Kojo Fosu Boadu, also known as Kojo Bamba, to organize monthly walks in the Ashanti Region and other parts of the country so that people can realize that Chairman Wontumi’s jail is politically motivated.

He emphasized that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, led by President John Dramani Mahama, had no valid reason to jail the former Ashanti Regional Chairman for allowing another person to mine part of his concession.

“I think we will have to re-channel the energies of some of our national officers. I think some of them have enormous energies, and we will have to use Kojo Bamba and others to organize Wontumi walks for people to know how vindictive the government has been and that Wontumi’s incarceration is politically motivated,” said the NPP National Chairman.

He stated that the government has failed the people of Ghana based on their numerous promises made prior to the 2024 general election and emphasized the main opposition party is putting their house together to recapture political power in 2028. Enditem
