Poland to invest over 26 bln USD in population protection, civil defense

Poland plans to invest a total of 102.4 billion Polish zlotys (26.45 billion U.S. dollars) from 2027 to 2031 in a population protection and civil defense program, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Tuesday.

The program covers protective structures, rescue equipment and facilities, emergency stockpiles, secure water and energy supplies, and communications security.

The five-year plan continues work carried out in 2025-2026, when the government allocated nearly 34 billion zlotys (8.78 billion dollars) to population protection.

The Russia-Ukraine conflict has brought security concerns closer to Poland’s borders. The government has accelerated the construction and modernization of shelters, distributed emergency preparedness guides and expanded nationwide training on responding to air raids and other emergencies.  Enditem
