The police have arrested six persons in connection with the shooting of former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament (MP), Sarah Adwoa Safo at Kwabenya, according to a statement on Sunday.
The statement, signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, the police retrieved five pump-action guns, one Taurus pistol loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, an additional magazine loaded with five rounds of 9mm ammunition, and communication equipment.
“The Ghana Police Service has arrested six private security guards in connection with the shooting incident involving Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, which occurred at Kwabenya on 21st June 2026,” read part of the statement.
The police said they received distress call from an informant and proceeded to the scene of the incident.
According to the police, their preliminary investigations indicate that a ceremony was being held at the residence of Mr. Tamakloe Safo Jehoshaphat, alias Akofena when the former Dome-Kwabenya MP reportedly arrived and requested access to the premises but was denied entry.
The police further disclosed that armed security personnel at the residence allegedly discharged firearms during the incident resulting in the injury to Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo and that her vehicle was found with multiple gunshot marks.
Meanwhile, the six suspects arrested have been transferred to the Police Headquarters to assist in ongoing investigations.
The police assured the investigators are ongoing to locate and arrest all other persons connected with the incident. Enditem
