President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang are expected to participate in the government’s nationwide general clean-up exercise on Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, 2026, as part of efforts to improve sanitation and reduce the risk of flooding following the devastating June 29 floods.
According to Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo, the President and Vice President will join Members of Parliament, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), traditional leaders and residents in the exercise.
However, the exact locations where the President and Vice President will participate will not be disclosed in advance to enable authorities to assess the preparedness of the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.
The two-day clean-up campaign is one of the key measures announced by the government through the Post-Flood Mitigation Committee after floods affected seven regions, resulting in loss of lives and widespread destruction.
The exercise aims to clear choked drains, remove refuse, and improve environmental sanitation to help prevent future flooding.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has also urged all Members of Parliament to actively participate in the national exercise, while various organizations and political groups have encouraged their members to support the initiative. Enditem
