Ghana won three medals on day three at the ongoing 24th African Senior Athletics Championships in Accra, with athletes delivering strong performances in the competition.
Florence Agyeman took the bronze medal in the women’s 400m final with a time of 51.87 seconds, earning Ghana’s first medal of the championships.
With inspiration from Agyeman, Esther Obenewaa took the bull by the horns by picking up a silver medal in the women’s high jump after clearing a personal best height of 1.81m.
As if that was not enough, Alex Amankwah picked up a bronze medal in the men’s 800m final after clocking 1:46.18.
The performance of team Ghana on the third day of the championships revived the hopes of the home fans.
