President John Dramani Mahama has approved a major shake-up at the National Security Council Secretariat, with former Chief of Army Staff, Major General (Rtd.) William Ayamdo, appointed Deputy National Security Coordinator in charge of Operations, according to a statement from the Presidency on Tuesday.
The changes, according to the Presidency, form part of a broader reorganisation of the National Security Council Secretariat aimed at realigning key positions within the country’s security architecture.
Major General (Rtd.) Ayamdo’s appointment places him in a key operational role at the Secretariat, where he is expected to oversee security operations under the direction of the National Security Coordinator.
As part of the changes, former National Security Coordinator Yaw Donkor has also been reassigned to the Office of the National Security Advisor, where he will serve as Director of Intelligence and Research.
The reorganisation further affects several other departments within the Secretariat, with Adam Saaka appointed Director of Logistics and Transport.
Faustina Effah-Boadi has also been appointed Officer in Charge of the Human Security Department, while retired DCOP Peter Ndekugri has been named Officer in Charge of the Special Investigations Unit.
Meanwhile, ACP Alhassan Osman has been reassigned to the Ghana Police Service for further deployment, bringing his current assignment at the National Security Council Secretariat to an end.
