GFA congratulates UDS for winning FISU University Football World Cup in China

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has extended a congratulatory message to the University for Development Studies (UDS) for winning the 2025 FISU World University Football Championship in China, according to a statement on Sunday.

The statement signed by GFA president Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, who is also the 2nd vice president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), commended the tertiary institution for the historic feat.

“We are immensely proud of UDS for this historic achievement. Your victory in China underscores the quality and potential of Ghanaian football at all levels. It also affirms the importance of investing in grassroots and tertiary-level football to build a strong foundation for our national game,” read the statement.

The GFA assured to continue to work with schools and colleges to identify and nurture talents who will go on to represent the West African country at the highest levels.

The UDS defeated defending champions, the Paulista University from Brazil, 2-1 in the finals of the 2025 World University Games in Dalian, China, on Sunday. End item
