The Black Stars of Ghana has been drawn in Group C in the qualifiers for the 2027 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), according to a draw held at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) headquarters on Tuesday.
The Black Stars who failed to qualify for the last AFCON in Morocco will come up against western neighbors Cote d’Ivoire, The Gambia, and Somalia in the qualifiers scheduled to commence from Sept. 21 this year to March 30 next year.
A total of 48 teams will participate in the upcoming AFCON qualifiers, with the draw producing 12 groups, out of which two countries from each group will qualify for the finals. Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania have taken three of those places as co-hosts.
The continental football tournament, which is returning to East Africa for the first time in 51 years, is scheduled to take place between June 19 and July 17, 2027. Enditem
