The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has denied claims making the rounds suggesting it is considering selling its newly constructed headquarters in the national capital, according to a statement on Tuesday.
In the statement issued by the Communications Department, the Central Bank described the report as inaccurate.
According to the bank, it is not considering selling off the facility as the new building remains a critical part of its operations.
“The Bank of Ghana has taken note of a publication by myjoyonline dated June 1, 2026, titled ‘Bank of Ghana considering sale of new $260 million headquarters – Sources.’ ” The Bank categorically states that his report is false and misleading,” read the statement.
It added, “The Bank is not considering, discussing, or planning the sale of its new headquarters. This facility, which was commissioned to support the Bank’s operations and enhance efficiency in the discharge of its statutory mandate, remains a critical asset of the Bank.”
The BoG said it remains committed to transparency and will continue to engage stakeholders through its official channels.
The Bank of Ghana’s new headquarters, officially named The Bank Square, is located in the heart of Accra.
Commissioned in November 2024, the US$260 million complex was constructed to replace the vulnerable 1960s former headquarters. Enditem
