Supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Kwadaso Constituency in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday demonstrated against Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, Eric Asibey calling for his removal from office.
The protesters accused him of failing to work effectively with the party’s grassroots and raised concerns over the distribution of birds under the ‘Nkoko Nkitinkiti’ initiative.
They alleged that slightly more than 3,000 birds were distributed to the constituency, instead of the 10,000 they expected to be made available to constituents.
NDC Branch Youth Organiser for the Sofoline Branch, Abdul Aziz Haruna, said the grassroots had engaged the MCE on several occasions and presented recommendations aimed at creating opportunities for party supporters and improving the welfare of constituents.
According to him, the failure to address the concerns raised by the grassroots had prompted their protest, with the protesters urging the relevant authorities to intervene.
The angry protesters are therefore calling on the President John Dramani Mahama revoke the appointment of the Municipal Chief Executive.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Kwadaso, Eric Asibey has however denied all allegations levelled against him insisting that he is more focused on delivering on the mandate of President John Dramani Mahama in the Municipality.
“What they are saying has no evidence. I can say that they are only trying to concoct something for public consumption. There is no discrimination.” Enditem
