The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will elect its national officers on September 19 at a National Delegates Conference, according to a statement on Wednesday.
The statement, signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, said the decision was taken by the National Executive Council (NEC) and subsequently approved by the National Council.
“The New Patriotic Party has fixed Saturday, September 19, 2026, as the date for its National Delegates Conference, at which delegates will, among other matters, elect national officers of the party pursuant to Article 10(1) of the party constitution,” read the statement.
Ahead of the conference, the General Secretary, acting pursuant to Article 19(2) of the party constitution, has invited proposals for amendments to the party’s constitution.
The party urged members and stakeholders to take advantage of the constitutional review process by submitting proposals that will further strengthen the party’s structures, enhance its internal democratic processes, and promote effective governance.
The party stressed that it remains committed to constitutionalism, internal democracy, and rule of law, ensuring adherence to the party constitution and its democratic traditions. End item
