Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russia would “never forget unparalleled heroic deeds, exceptional bravery and selflessness” of DPRK soldiers in the Kursk region, during a meeting with Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui in Moscow on Monday.
“Soldiers of the Korean People’s Army fought shoulder to shoulder with our servicemen for Russian land as if it were their own, and at the cost of their lives helped bring closer the liberation of this land from Ukrainian Nazis and foreign mercenaries. <…> Our people will never forget unparalleled heroic deeds, exceptional bravery and selflessness of the Korean servicemen demonstrated while fighting alongside us in the same trench against a common enemy,” he said.
Meanwhile, Choe Son-hui stressed that relations between the countries would ‘continue to develop’ and would ‘only grow stronger’ due to ‘strategic leadership’ of Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un, as well as the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
“Not only today, but also in the future, unswervingly supporting the policy of the Russian leadership in defending sovereignty, territorial integrity, international justice and the course of building a strong Russia, as well as always fulfilling the obligations under the interstate treaty, is the consistent foreign policy position of the government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea,” she added.
The DPRK foreign minister also stressed that the regular strategic dialogue between the foreign ministries of the countries contributed to “strengthening political trust, promoting comprehensive practical co-operation”, as well as “co-ordinating common diplomatic positions on major international issues in accordance with the spirit of the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”.
