Ghana’s Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment George Opare-Addo hailed Russia’s role in bringing young people from across the globe together, speaking on the sidelines of the International Festival of Youth in Yekaterinburg on Tuesday.
“I’ve travelled extensively around the world and I’ve participated in many festivals, and I must say: this is one of the best-organised festivals I have seen, in terms of content, in terms of the organisational ability, and in terms of bringing on board people from all across the world,” Opare-Addo said.
“This is the basis for co-operation. This is how the world needs to co-operate to build a better world for all of us, and I strongly believe Russia is taking the lead in that respect,” he added.
The Ghanaian minister said the festival could open the door to much deeper ties, from education and technology to business and youth development.
“We should nosedive into other areas where we can bring about effective co-operation: education, science, technology, entrepreneurship, and youth development – whichever way we can work together. It is the aftermath of what we do after today that will determine whether these relationships will be properly strengthened,” the minister added.
The festival runs from September 11 to 17, with discussions, workshops, cultural events and other activities.
Organisers say 10,000 participants from 191 countries were selected after more than 113,000 applications.
