The Technical University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (TUTAG) has declared an indefinite industrial strike effective October 1, 2026, citing unresolved issues over unpaid salaries and alleged variations to its agreed Scheme of Service.
TUTAG says some members employed under post-retirement contracts have gone more than 27 months without payment, despite continuing to work under valid contracts. The association is demanding immediate payment of verified arrears and a clear timetable for outstanding payments.
The association is also protesting what it describes as unilateral changes to the 2021 Scheme of Service, including requirements affecting Assistant Lecturers and Assistant Research Fellows.
Under the strike, members will withdraw from teaching, supervision of students’ research and submission of examination marks. They will, however, continue with research, meetings, committee work and community service.
TUTAG says the decision followed a unanimous resolution at its Congress on September 24 after engagements with government agencies failed to resolve the outstanding concerns. Enditem
