President John Dramani Mahama will launch the country’s first e-visa service on African Union (AU) Day on May 25, Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced on Friday.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the minister explained that Africans will not pay for visa fees when entering Ghana under the new arrangement.
President Mahama is set to launch Ghana’s first e-visa service on Africa Day—Monday, May 25, 2026. This marks Ghana’s warm digital handshake with the world. Africans will not pay visa fees,” read the post.
The FM minister further stated the West African country is open for business and tourism.
At least some 31 African nations have adopted e-visa systems, making travel to the continent significantly faster and more convenient.
The digital entry systems replace traditional paper visas, allowing travelers to apply online and receive authorizations digitally before embarking on their trips. Enditem
