Cote d’Ivoire holds 3rd Int’l Audio-Visual Content Fair in Abidjan

Cote d’Ivoire on Thursday launched the third edition of its International Audio-Visual Content Fair (SICA), a three-day event aimed at strengthening the African audiovisual industry through digital sovereignty and the global promotion of African storytelling.

More than just a fair, SICA 2025 aims to become a “true hub of digital and creative transformation” for the continent.

In his inaugural speech, Ivorian Minister of Communication Amadou Coulibaly highlighted Africa’s potential in audiovisual creation, advocating for the better structuring of the sector, skills enhancement, and the promotion of co-productions.

“African cinema exists because Africans have stories to tell. It is our myths, our rites and our daily struggles that need to be narrated and shared with the world,” he said. “SICA 2025 is the projection of our shared will to give the African narrative the international resonance it deserves.”

Presiding over the opening ceremony, Minister of Public Service and Administration Modernization Anne Desiree Ouloto stressed the audiovisual sector’s potential to drive youth employment.

She emphasized its “power to create jobs for millions of talented, bold and ingenious young Africans, capable of making the audiovisual sector a major development axis for the cultural and creative industry.”

According to organizers, the event is expected to draw around 300 audiovisual professionals, 100 speakers and nearly 2,000 amateur participants, with representatives from 25 countries and support from 30 sponsors, creating a dynamic platform for networking and collaboration.  Enditem
