The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament will soon undertake a series of actions to rebuke the judge sitting on the case involving the Bono Regional Chairman of the party, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, according to Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo Markin on Tuesday.
In a post on his Facebook page, the Minority Leader justified that it is within his constitutional right to call out a Judge who does not respect the law and the rights of the citizens.
According to him, there is an agenda involving the conduct of the Circuit Court 9 Judge in political cases; hence, his action.
“The Minority Caucus in Parliament will not shut its eyes to the conduct of this Judge. A series of actions will be taken in Parliament, and the appropriate constitutional steps will be taken to rebuke him. Our Lords are not above the law,” said Afenyo Markin.
He called on the Chief Justice, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, to keep an eye on the Circuit Court 9 Judge and prevail upon him to uphold the ethos of the judicial robe and wig.
Afenyo Markin, at a press conference on Sunday at the party’s headquarters, threw vituperations at the Judge sitting on the case involving Abronye DC.
Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has criticized the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) over the comments by the Minority Leader.
He accused the GBA of being aligned with the opposition NPP, hence failing to respond to criticisms by Afenyo-Markin over the detention of Abronye DC.
“I have long dismissed the Ghana Bar Association as an NPP grouping. If it were not so, the intolerable abuse of this Judge by the minority leader would have elicited an immediate, uncompromising response. They have been known to respond quickly to far less offensive commentary by non-NPP members,” said Ofosu.
“Alas, one of their own, an NPP lawyer, has abused a judge, so they have been loudly silent. What insufferable duplicity! See less,” added the minister.
Not long enough, the GBA distanced itself from the comments of the Minority Leader. Enditem
