President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghanaians to embrace selfless patriotism and contribute to the development of the country as Ghana marks Founder’s Day and commemorates the legacy of first president, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
Mahama called on citizens both at home and abroad to draw inspiration from Nkrumah’s vision of liberty, Pan-African unity, and self-reliance.
He emphasized that Ghana’s political independence was only part of the nation-building journey, stressing that the country still has a collective responsibility to build a prosperous, equitable, and resilient Ghana.
“Just as Nkrumah fought for our political independence, we have a collective duty today to build a prosperous, equitable, and resilient Ghana,” read the post.
President Mahama urged Ghanaians to overcome divisions, adopt selfless patriotism, and strive for economic freedom and social justice.
The 2026 Founder’s Day coincides with the 117th anniversary of Nkrumah’s birth.
The occasion is being used to reflect on his contribution to Ghana’s independence, nation-building, and the Pan-African movement. Enditem
