GES to place 2025 promoted teachers on new salary scales by Aug. 31

By Francis Kobena Tandoh

Public sector teachers who were promoted recently will be placed on their appropriate salary scales by August 31, 2026, the Ghana Education Service (GES) announced on Tuesday.

In a statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations, promotion letters of the affected teachers will be released to the various Regional Education Directorates from August 15 for onward distribution to the teachers.

The GES expressed its appreciation to all staff for their cooperation.

Teachers who wrote the examination across the country in December 2025 and got promoted in May this year on Monday expressed rage over the government’s continued silence about their predicament despite the mounting agitation on various teacher platforms.

The aggrieved staff, promoted to various ranks including Principal Superintendent, Assistant Director II, Assistant Director I, and Deputy Director called on their union leadership to take up the matter for the government to address their concerns.

Later in the day, the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), in a statement, assured the teachers it had taken up the matter about a week ago and will soon issue a roadmap towards the resolution of the matter.

For now, public sector workers within the Ghana Education Service wait patiently for the August 31 deadline as set forth by management to see if their concerns will be addressed to ensure industrial harmony within the pre-tertiary education sector. Enditem
