The government has announced temporary fuel cut in the next pricing window commencing April 16 to cushion consumers, according to a statement by the presidency on Wednesday.
The decision will see diesel go down by GH₵2.00 per litre while petrol will also see a reduction of GH₵0.36 per litre.
The statement, signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications said the intervention is in response to rising prices of petroleum products on the international market.
“Effective April 16, 2026, which is the next pricing window, the Government will absorb GH₵2.00 per litre on diesel and GH₵0.36 per litre of petrol. This intervention is to cushion customers and ease the cost burden on households, transport operators, and businesses,” read the statement.
According to the statement, the temporary intervention will remain in force for a period of one month during which the government will continue to closely monitor developments in the global oil market and assess the need for further policy adjustments.
The government assured the public of maintaining price stability, protecting livelihoods, and supporting Ghana’s economic recovery in the face of external shocks. Enditem
