Olga Stefanishina, Ukraine’s former deputy prime minister and ambassador to the United States, has been notified that she was suspected of illicit enrichment, the Ukrainian authorities said on Thursday.
Stefanishina was suspected of unlawfully acquiring assets valued at 13.9 million hryvnias (about 311,000 U.S. dollars), said Ukraine’s anti-corruption authorities in a statement.
Stefanishina filed false asset declarations, the statement added.
Ukraine’s High Anti-Corruption Court has set bail for Stefanishina at 6 million hryvnias, it said.
Stefanishina told reporters she plans to continue working, though not in a public position. She also said she currently lacks sufficient funds to post the bail and will seek to raise the required amount, public broadcaster Suspilne reported. Enditem
